At the age of six, Laurie Moore wrote her first novel in orange Crayola on blue construction paper and gave the mystery-horror hybrid to her father for his birthday. This fifth generation Texan was reared in South Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. degree. At her parents’ urging to become a Spanish teacher, she rebelled and joined the police department. For six years, she worked street patrol and criminal investigations until the brass decided to promote her to the rank of sergeant.
She later worked as a DA Investigator in Austin, Lockhart, and San Antonio before moving to Fort Worth to attend law school (kicking and screaming).
CONSTABLE’S RUN (2002), THE LADY GODIVA MURDER (2002), CONSTABLE’S APPREHENSION (2003), THE WILD ORCHID SOCIETY (2004), and CONSTABLE’S WEDDING (2005) are her first five novels. JURY RIGGED (2008), WOMAN STRANGLED – NEWS AT TEN (2009), and DEB ON ARRIVAL – LIVE AT FIVE: A DEBUTANTE DETECTIVE MYSTERY (summer, 2010) are her latest mysteries.
Laurie holds an active police commission. She is currently a reserve deputy constable in Tarrant County, Texas, and maintains a thriving law office in the Cultural District of Fort Worth (a.k.a. Cowtown & The Panther City). 2010 marks 31 years of law enforcement for Laurie.
She has a daughter, a Siamese named Ling who is Director of Homeland Security, and a Welsh Corgi named Jezebel who is in charge of Border Patrol. She also co-owns a destructive Siamese named Julius Caesar. Laurie has served on the board of the DFW Writers’ Workshop in Euless, Texas.
COUPLE GUNNED DOWN – NEWS AT TEN and DEB TO THE WORLD – LIVE AT FIVE: A DEBUTANTE DETECTIVE MYSTERY are summer releases slotted for 2011. She is currently working on a new project.
